PERTH AMBOY – U.S. Senator Bob Menendez was joined by U.S. Representative Luis V. Gutierrez at a "Get-Out-The-Vote" rally hosted by "Victory 2012"- New Jersey's 2012 statewide coordinated campaign - in Perth Amboy, New Jersey.
Joined by U.S. Representatives Frank Pallone (NJ-6) and Albio Sires (NJ-13), among other local elected officials, Menendez and Gutierrez spoke to supporters about the importance of voting on November 6th and about the issues that are at stake in this year’s elections.
Menendez emphasized that his re-election race focuses on his fight to help working families make it into the middle class. He talked about his support for preserving and protecting Medicare and Social Security for seniors; his continued support of our men and women in uniform and veterans; his fight to make a college education more affordable and how he is working to grow the economy and working to give tax breaks to middle class families – not the wealthy.
“We cannot permit the Republicans to stop progress on economic growth and on educational opportunities,” said Menendez in reference to the Republican Party’s obstructionist ways in the U.S. Congress. “This election is about moving the country forward in one of its most challenging times in its history. We must use our votes to reject the politics of failure and embrace the politics of progress and prosperity in this election.” He added, “I want to move forward; I want to create jobs; I want to create prosperity and together we can do it in this election and win our future.”
